AIB - AfInBro Limited

About AIB

AIB - African Insurance Brokers

❱ THE COMPANY

AfInBro Limited trading as African Insurance Brokers [‘AIB’] was incorporated in 2016 as a response to a changing insurance market in Zambia, specifically the intermediated insurance market sector. As the traditionally dominant global insurance brokers have continued to review the manner in which they operate in emerging insurance markets, it became obvious to AIB’s promoters that there was a need for a truly independent and professional insurance broker owned by Zambian citizens and residents, capable of providing best-in-class insurance broking services and products to Zambia’s insuring community.

In striving to meet this objective, together with demonstrating a long-term commitment to this country in general and the Zambian insurance market in particular, AIB has aligned its shareholding, management and service offerings in pursuit of this objective.

Accordingly, AIB is totally owned by Zambian citizens and residents and managed by very experienced personnel with a combined total of over 50 years’ insurance industry experience. We are committed to the highest professional and ethical standards and are able to provide clients with a wide range of insurance products and services.

In order to assist in achieving AIB’s objective of ensuring that clients are able to benefit from the latest intellectual property transfer and international insurance industry best practices, we have correspondent agreements with a number of leading global and regional insurance brokers.

By structuring these as correspondent agreements as opposed to shareholding and/or management agreements, AIB is able to maintain its truly independent identity as well as maximise operational flexibility without the constraints associated with global company subsidiary companies.

Currently AIB operates out of two branches, namely Lusaka and Kitwe. As operations expand consideration will be given to emulating the Voyagers Group branch network which also has branches in Ndola, Chingola, Solwezi and Livingstone.

❱ VOYAGERS GROUP

Voyagers was founded in 1987 by Marion and Howard Gatchell.

Voyagers quickly expanded beyond its Ndola base and evolved from a ticketing agency to include incoming tours and holidays operating out of additional offices in Lusaka, Chingola, Kitwe, Livingstone and Solwezi.

In 1995 Voyagers Rentals commenced operations with a single vehicle providing car hire services and has subsequently grown to operate a fleet of in excess of 400 vehicles. The company is currently the Europcar franchisee for Zambia.

Voyagers’ decision to invest in an insurance broking company was largely driven by the Group’s desire to diversify its service and product offerings to its clients as well as leveraging the evident synergies between its existing business and that of an insurance intermediary.
